Embassy Hosts Exhibition by Hungarian Artist Natália Mazalin


On October 14, Ambassador Ferenc Somogyi opened the exhibition of paintings by Hungarian
artist Natália Mazalin at the Hungarian Embassy. The event was followed by a cocktail reception.

Ambassador Somogyi welcomed Natália Mazalin and the Washington audience to the Embassy exhibition, stressing the importance of promoting contemporary Hungarian fine arts in the United States. He pointed out the artist’s two-piece composition from 2006, titled In Memoriam 1956, in honor of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, which won a special prize at a Hungarian arts competition. Ambassador Somogyi closed his remarks by saying: "Perhaps the best idea is to simply accept the sheer triviality of l’art pour l’art, art for art’s sake only, that is, so let’s just look at the paintings and enjoy the fascinating world of this extremely sensitive artist, Ms. Natália Mazalin."

Mazalin’s exhibition includes 20 paintings and will travel to the Hungarian Consulate General in Los Angeles, California, to be displayed there.
